Carl Granberg – General Manager/Chief Operating Officer | 414-410-3410
For over the past 42 years, Carl has built an impressive career working for some of the most prestigious hospitality organizations and private resorts in the country. He began his career at The Broadmoor, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a well-known AAA Five Diamond Resort. He then worked with Marriott Hotels and Resorts for 12 years in Illinois, Missouri, and Michigan, ending his hotel career at the acclaimed The American Club in Kohler. With a reputation for working in organizations that deliver the highest level of service excellence, Carl transitioned his hospitality experience into a distinctive career in the private club industry. Early in his private club career, he held increasingly senior positions in the area to include North Shore CC, Pine Hills CC, Western Racquet Club, and West Bend CC. For five years, he served as clubhouse director at Edina Country Club in Edina, Minnesota, followed by General Manager/COO of Cedar Rapids Country Club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, prior to joining Rochester Golf and Country Club, where he served for over four years.

Jeff Podbielski – Controller/HR Manager

Jeff was born and raised in Milwaukee. He is a graduate of Marquette School of Business. When away from work, he enjoys spending time with his family making memories. He is a first-degree black belt in Hapkido, and martial arts is a passion that he delights in with his children. He enjoys the challenges of his current position and looks forward to the bright future here.

Tom Hughes – Clubhouse Manager, Country Club | (414) 271-2222 ext. 1706
Tom grew up in Oshkosh and has his bachelors degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. After college he relocated to New Orleans and began a career in fine dining, working for storied institutions such as Commander's Palace and Arnaud's. He spent the last few years based in Colorado consulting on restaurant openings around the country. Closer to home, he also worked in the dining room at Sanford restaurant here in Milwaukee.

Joe Coraggio – Clubhouse Manager, City Club | (414) 271-2222 
Joe resides in Wauwatosa, with his wife Marilyn and three children, Cameron, Cole, and Violet. When Joe is not working, you can find him exercising or walking his yellow lab Stuart on the Oak Leaf and Hank Aaron trails near his home. He enjoys being outside with his children and fishing with his sons, especially at his parents’ cottage near Shawno, WI. Joe most recently held the positions of Assistant Clubhouse Manager and Communications Coordinator for the past 4+ years at Blue Mound Golf and Country Club. Prior to that, he held positions of Beverage Manager and Bar Manager at Blue Mound, totaling over 12 years of service to their membership. Joe is active in the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) where he regularly attends meetings and seminars both locally and nationally. He currently sits on the education committee for our local CMAA Wisconsin Badger Chapter, which aids in the planning and implementation of educational opportunities for their chapter members.Joe has been very active in the community serving on the board of directors for the Just a Little Faith Foundation, Inc. (JALF) since May of 2010. JALF raises awareness and funds specifically for the Complex Care Program at Children’s Wisconsin – Milwaukee Hospital. In 2019, his daughter Violet was diagnosed with a rare genetic mutation and became a patient of the Complex Care Program shortly thereafter. This prompted him and his wife to further their involvement in volunteering for the hospital by becoming Family Advisors for the Complex Care Program. Joe is also one of approximately 15 parents that hold the position of Family Advisors for the entire Children’s Wisconsin – Milwaukee Hospital campus.

Ross Lorenz – Executive Chef, Country Club| (414) 271-2222 ext. 1703
Chef Ross is from Milwaukee and has been working in kitchens since the age of 13 where he started at Saz's. Since then he has worked at a number of restaurants and clubs, being promoted to Executive Sous Chef at the age of 26 at Bluemound Country Club. As an active member of The Milwaukee American Culinary Federation, Ross has recently been elected to serve on the board as the chapter's secretary. He is also a chef mentor for the Wauwatosa East Pro-Start Culinary team. Lorenz has hosted former Governor Scott Walker on two occasions, placed multiple years at the WMSE chili cook off, and has garnered a reputation for executing VIP dinner events featuring vineyards, breweries, and distilleries from all over the world.

Michael Garbin – Interim Executive Chef, City Club

Chef Garbin joins The University Club of Milwaukee to assist our culinary team during a leadership transition. Working alongside our City Club Clubhouse Manager and the Executive Chef at The Country Club, Michael is taking this opportunity to develop new standard operating procedures, improve sanitation and organization, and hire/train new team members.

Since graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in 1976, Chef Garbin has worked in Atlanta, New Orleans, Boston, Memphis, Denver, Phoenix, Chicago, California, and now Milwaukee. Chef Garbin spent over 26 years as the Executive Chef at the Union League Club of Chicago.

Jon Calvillo – Director of Tennis | (414) 271-2222
Jon has been director of tennis for 20 years. He attended Marquette University on a tennis scholarship and received both his bachelor of science and M.B.A in Marketing. Jon has been ranked #1 in Wisconsin in both men's open singles and mixed doubles and has been ranked as high as #2 in the Midwest in men's open singles. He was past chairman of the Wisconsin junior competition committee and the Wisconsin girl's endorser. Currently, Jon is a head coach for the Wisconsin competition training centers and tournament director for the Wisconsin district qualifier, the largest junior tournament in Wisconsin. In the off season, Jon is director of tennis for the elite sports clubs.

Dylan Hills – Director of Golf

Dylan returned to his home state when he accepted the position of Director of Golf in 2013. He grew up in Watertown and played all sports but ultimately golf is what he pursued. Growing up in a golf oriented family he knew it was a great fit for him and he enrolled at Ferris State University and majored in Professional Golf Management. After college, he became the Assistant Golf Professional at Kenosha Country Club and Desert Princess Country Club in Palm Springs, CA. After leaving the desert in 2000, he took the position of First Assistant Professional at Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, CA and later became the Sr. Head Professional at the facility which is considered to be one of the most exclusive clubs in Northern California. In 2008, he accepted the position of Head Professional at Winchester Country Club in Auburn, CA and left in 2013 to become the General Manager at Minnesota National Golf Course in McGregor, MN. Dylan enjoys spending time with his family, Wife Molly and children Bailey, Marlee and Ben. When he is not at the club he is driving his children to their next activity, watching the Packers, playing golf or traveling.

Kelsey Newburry – Director of Aquatics

Kelsey is a graduate of University Wisconsin – Milwaukee, where she received her BA in marketing. After 17 years of competitive swimming, Kelsey knew her love for the sport wasn’t going to end. She dove right into coaching at the age of 20 for the Menomonee Falls Swim Club, she coached there for 7 years as an assistant before leaving for the West Bend Swim Club. Kelsey took the head coaching job at the West Bend Swim Club (hometown club), where she led that program for 2 years before finding her true home at Shorewood. Kelsey has a true passion for the sport and for teaching kids something that was so good to her.

Kathleen Hurley – Director of Membership

Kathleen is a Club management professional who has managed key areas in the private club space for the last ten years at the Union League Club of Chicago. Her experience includes the planning, development, and implementation of strategic plans that dictate the short-term and long-term objectives for activity groups and events for more than 4,000 members. Kathleen used her media relationships to secure press coverage that raises public awareness and gains the support of community organizations. Her passion is to create an overall member experience that is memorable. Her experience in developing membership, crafting marketing plans, that will help attract prospective members to grow membership. Kathleen brings her energy and tenacity to The University Club of Milwaukee.

Ornela Dhamo – Dining and Banquet Manager, City Club

A native of the Republic of Albania, Ornela moved to America 1998. She joined the University Club staff in 2004 and has been a fixture of the Club's Member Dining Room ever since. Ornela has 2 children with her beloved husband. She is an unparalleled source of Club knowledge for Members and staff alike, and always ready to go the extra mile for the Club.

Michael Dishaw – Facility Manager City Club

Michael Dishaw grew up in Northern Michigan and after attending Lake Superior State College he moved to the Milwaukee area in 1973. He has been the Facility Manager at the University Club since January of 2006, where his duties include maintaining and improving this old house. Dishaw lives with his wife Karla in Eagle and they have been blessed with three children and five grandchildren.

Elias Gutierrez – Facility Manager, Country Club

Elias has been employed at the former Tripoli Country Club for 17 years. Through hard work and dedication, he worked his way up through the ranks and is now the Facility Manager at the Country Club. He oversees the Housekeeping staff as well as making sure that all the equipment and machinery used by the club is up-to-date and operational. Elias is married and has one young son.

Terry Conway – Grounds Superintendent, Country Club

Terry has forty years of experience as a supervisor in Golf Course Management. While attending college, he was asked to fill the vacant position as Assistant Superintendent and never looked back. He soon obtained his degree in the "School of Hard Knocks." Terry's duties include the daily maintenance and operation of the golf course, as well as overseeing and implementing the many changes necessary to keep the course running smoothly. Terry lives in Germantown with his wife, Chris, and their three daughters. All of the girls, as well as other family members have worked at the Club over the years, cementing the bond between them. Terry is very proud and appreciative of all his staff, without whom he could not do his job.

Steven "Wheat" Beck – Grounds

Steven is a Milwaukee native. He worked one summer at the Country Club during high school. After working for two years as a draftsman for a local aerospace contractor he attended the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. He received A BS in Mechanical Engineering. He has worked golf course maintenance at the Country Club since college and is the assistant to Terry, the golf course superintendent.
