“Gray Rhinos” are highly probable threats, they are not random surprises but occur after a series of warnings and visible evidence. The bubble of 2008, the aftermath of major hurricanes, digital technologies that have upended media, the rapid decline of the Soviet Union and the rising turmoil in the Middle East – all were evident well in advance.
Join the GMC, the University Club of Milwaukee and Michele Wucker, author of The Gray Rhino, on April 19th at 5pm for a discussion with local leaders Willie Wade, V.P. of the Milwaukee Area Worker Investment Board and former Alderman of the 7th District and Ken Hanson, CEO of HansonDodge Creative and founder of Greater Together. Michele will discuss her book and engage Ken and Willie in a look at a Gray Rhino in our region: the lack of diversity in leading industries paired with the stark statistics of inequality and segregation – and what this means for our future regional economic stability and growth.
Attendance is limited, please RSVP early. Every guest will receive a hardcover copy of The Gray Rhino thanks to the generosity of HUSCO International. The author will be available at the end of the evening for signatures.
Michele Wucker has been recognized as a 2009 Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum and a 2007 Guggenheim Fellow. She has held positions including president of the New York City-based World Policy Institute; vice president of studies at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs; and Latin America bureau chief at International Financing Review. She has written for The New York Times, CNN, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and World Policy Journal, among others.
