Thank you for choosing the University Club of Milwaukee as a place to dine and socialize with business associate, colleagues, family and friends. We work hard to provide you with the highest quality service, finest meal choices and most superb wine and spirits selection in Milwaukee.

Let me introduce myself as the newest Chef here are the University Club. I bring to the Club over twenty years of experience working as a chef in private clubs, and hope to make the University Club my home for years to come.

In the three months that I have been at the University Club, I have been working on developing new menu items and recipes for members to enjoy for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have also been working on building a strong team of hardworking sous chefs.

We are continuously updating our menu selection and looking for innovative ways to better serve your dining needs and desires. If there is anything that I or a member of my staff can do to make your dining experience better, please do not hesitate to let us know via the comment cards provided at your point of service or by contacting General Manager Vicki Schroeder.

Opened in March 2015 after an extensive renovation, 1898 is an elegant and dynamic dining and cocktail area on the Club’s first floor. Whether you want to entertain guests over an enticing meal, meet with friends or colleagues for a casual get-together, or simply enjoy a drink while taking in the view from the terrace overlooking the bluffs of Lake Michigan, 1898 will deliver an experience unlike any other in Milwaukee.

SIXTH FLOOR

Our stunning Sixth Floor dining room offers a panoramic view of the Lake Michigan shoreline and the City of Milwaukee, and features a full fine dining and cocktail menu prepared by Executive Chef Joe Russo and his professionally trained staff. The 6th floor will be open for dining service on Wednesday evenings only September through December, with the same menu as 1898. The 6th floor can also be reserved for Private Events. The Member cocktail lounge will remain in 1898.

Cocktails & Fine Wines

The University Club of Milwaukee prides itself on its extensive wine cellar and specialty cocktail offerings. Members and guests can socialize and enjoy a beverage while dining at 1898 or the Sixth Floor. For a more informal experience, the 1898 bar features beautiful décor, a lively atmosphere and a television for enjoying sports games.

The Club’s spirits programs is focused on “turn of the century” classic cocktails with a modern twist. The cocktail list changes seasonally to reflect fresh ingredients and the newest spirits available. Some member-favorite cocktails include the “Prohibition Manhattan” using a Buillet Frontier Bourbon 10yr, sweet vermouth, orange bitters and Amarena cherry juice, and the “Milwaukee Mule,” which uses Central Standard Vodka, bitters and ginger beer with a fresh squeeze of lime.

The University Club’s wine program is focused on giving members access to wines that are not readily available in the market and at a price that they cannot receive anywhere else. We strive for a balance between new and old world, and work to ensure the wine list and reserve list are conversation pieces and blend with Chef Matt’s menu. Our beautiful wine cellar on the second floor is stocked with wines from all over the world and we continue to grow our offerings. Private wine tastings are available.
